Pakistan has highest school dropout rate in world

In Pakistan there is already 2.5 Million children are out of schools. And now there is alarming dropouts of students at school. 35000 High school pupils are dropout of educational system every year. Only 30% of Primary students get enrolled for matriculation level. Alarming dropouts are due to the lack of discipline, corporal punishments, poor motivation, unattractive school environment, poverty, child labor, poor relationship with teacher and careless attitude of parents. Schools lack effective management and they are unable to handle this trend of decline in student’s enrollment.


How can teachers and family retain students in school?

·         Teacher can do in the respect of school responsibility. Teacher should provide with professional training that is necessary for retention of students. But the responsibility of Community, Family and personal interest of student also matter. School can cater students drop out through friendly and vibrant environment. The fear of studies must be replaced by the love toward studies by applying student centered approaches.

·         Parents should be provided with counseling about the provision and benefits of compulsory education for their children.

·         Students with financial issues should provide with financial assistance. It is necessary for all stakeholders to support students in getting compulsory education.
